Everything You Need in a Makeup Kit For Beginners

Makeup kits, in general, are hard to assemble but necessary to own. I understand that it gets difficult for beginners to accumulate makeup products for themselves as they have no prior knowledge of the brands.
A beginner makeup kit should cover FOUR parts: Face, Eyes, Lips, and Accessories.
Why do you need a makeup kit?
One of the critical factors in efficiently applying makeup is having the necessary products. A kit allows for this to happen. A complete makeup kit consists of various products. Makeup is about understanding different products and the way to utilize the products in ways to bring out the features on your face. We’ve explained why each product is essential below.
FACE:
Why do we need a moisturizer with SPF?
I have had the opportunity to chat with a dermatologist, and she asked me to incorporate a moisturizer with SPF in my makeup routine. U.V. rays, in general, are harmful as they cause multiple skin diseases, including cancer. You need to understand that SPF is a protective shield and should apply it with a moisturizer; it won’t sink into your skin and remain on top as protection against the sun.
On the other hand, a moisturizer is supposed to penetrate your skin and make it soft and supple. Well-moisturized skin will naturally be able to withstand an external layer of makeup. However, your makeup won’t remain intact if you have dry or damaged skin. Hence, it’s crucial to moisturize your face before donning makeup.

There are alot moisturizers available, but I find the CeraVe and Neutrogena ones useful. They are moderately priced and are easily accessible in the local drugstores. We need to understand that our skin makes us appear youthful. Hence, it’s essential to be gentle with it. Apply your favorite moisturizer with a light hand. Slowly massage in a circular motion into your skin; avoid the delicate area surrounding your eyes.
Primer
A primer ensures a smooth application of the foundation. Hence, it’s mandatory to own one. Again, there are a thousand different versions available in the market, but only a few work well with all skin types. Understand you do not need to apply primer every day if you moisture your face often. However, I love to apply primer for parties and more extended events as it sets my makeup even longer.
For example, if you have oily skin, a hydrating primer won’t work well for you. You’d have to invest in a mattifying primer. Mattifying or sweat-proof primers absorb excess oil and allow your makeup to remain intact for 7 to 8 hours.
I’d strongly suggest investing in one of the following primers as they are the best from the lot:

As for the reduced price primer, I’d strongly suggest investing in one of the following primers:

Foundation
As stated before, you do not need to have a hundred different shades. Try and invest in a single one that truly matches your skin tone.
An easy way of finding your foundation for your skin tone is by visiting Sephora or a local drug store, as a wide variety of brands are available there. The accurate way to choose a foundation is by applying a small amount on your cheek or wrist.
You’d have to determine if the selected color goes well with your skin tone or not. If yes, purchase it right away.
I adore Huda Beauty, Fenty Beauty, M.A.C., and Nars when it comes to the foundation. The brands mentioned above are premium but reliable. I have never encountered any issues with any of their products.
Concealer
Concealers help to cover the dark circles or certain imperfections. Hence, it’s mandatory to invest in a thick concealer. I find the Tarte’s Shape Tape and Nars’ Radiant Creamy Concealer to be the best from the lot. The products above are a bit expensive but provide maximum coverage.

Understanding that not all people are interested in investing a massive chunk of money in concealers as they dry out quickly. Then I would recommend you purchase the Maybelline ones. Maybelline has launched a perfect concealer called the Instant Age Rewinder.
You can quickly get it from one of your local drugstores.
Blush & Bronzer
Your cheeks require some color and definition. I generally gravitate towards the natural shades when it comes to the blushes. Please be aware that I like to keep my makeup as natural as possible.
The Bourjois Paris blush is of high quality; they are inexpensive and readily available. Moreover, Benefit’s Hoola Matte Bronzer is my go-to as it provides a natural, sun-kissed glow. Since you do not own a wide variety of makeup products, it’d be better to invest in the products mentioned above as they genuinely deliver outstanding results.
Highlighting
Highlighting is as essential as applying blush because it adds to the finishing touch of your face. The central concept of finding a highlighter for your skin tone is to find a shade that is 3-4 shades lighter than your original skin tone. The goal when applying highlighter is to make your skin look healthy, dewy, and moisturized.

EYES:
Mascara & Lashes
Lux and full eyelashes can make your eyes appear more prominent. Hence, it’s necessary to use a good mascara. I have experimented with various mascaras throughout the years but found only a few to be effective when it truly comes to the results.
Loreal’s Lash Paradise and Marc Jacob’s Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara are two of my favorites. They deliver the quality expected from the right makeup products.

Essential Eye Shadow Palette:
Eye shadow is a great way to add color to your face.
There are numerous eye shadow palettes available in the market; some are created for artistic purposes, whereas the rest for day-to-day looks.
I prefer investing in the basic ones as they can help you achieve a wide variety of looks. I like to start with a basic brown or bronze shade when I step out for chores or small tasks. My go-to has always been Urban Decay’s Naked 03. In general, Urban Decay is an expensive brand, and all of their products are of premium quality.
You can undoubtedly opt for the moderately priced ones; there are a thousand different palettes available in the drugstore. The ones by ColourPop deliver brilliant results and are inexpensive too.

LIPSTICK
Yes, you do. It’s essential to own at least two lipsticks as you cannot don just one shade every day. I often find myself gravitating towards bold colors in the evening as they make my face vibrant.
Having had the chance to visit Paris a few years back, I spotted various locals donning a red lip in the evening. It’s considered a classic. It took me sometime to discover the perfect shades for my skin tone.

Good brands are M.A.C.’s Ruby Woo and Russian Red when it comes to red lipsticks; I also like Dior’s Rouge 999. The lipsticks mentioned above look stunning with minimal face makeup; you could add a classic wing to your eyes if you want to amp up your evening look.
Furthermore, it’s always wise to invest in a nude lipstick as bold colors, in general, do not look flattering in the morning. M.A.C.’s Persistence and Taupe are my go-to morning lipsticks. Lipsticks with brown undertones look striking underneath the sun.
ACCESSORIES:
Makeup Wipes/Makeup Remover
It’s mandatory to take your makeup off once you’re back home. Leaving your makeup on for more than 18 hours will eventually cause premature aging and various skin diseases; cystic acne, unfortunately, is one of them. Try and invest in an effective makeup remover; Bioderma is my favorite from the lot.
You could also opt for the makeup removing wipes. I am aware that many people use them, but I find them a bit harsh. I have tried a few brands, and they worked well for me. However, I prefer a liquid-based makeup remover.

Beauty Blender:
What is having all of these products and not having the tools to apply them? Sure, you can use your fingers, but it’s better to invest in a beauty blender.
You can find beauty blender sponges inexpensive at your drug store, Sephora, or even at Marshall’s. They are readily available and unlike brushes that are specific to particular products or parts of your face. You can use a sponge for just about any product.
Basic Brush Set:
Having a basic brush set is essential; it allows you to play around with all the different products using the right brushes.

Eyelash Glue:
When applying false lashes, then you need glue to apply. When using the glue, make sure to leave the glue on the lashes between 40-50 seconds. As soon as you can see it getting tacky, you can apply it to your lash line as it is easier to apply and last longer.

Makeup, in general, is an expression on its own. You get the chance to do your face and express your inner artistic talent through it. Try and purchase some of the products I have recommended. Experiment with different formulas and colors and see what suits your needs. You should remember that perfection comes with practice. Keep practicing, and you’d one day be a pro for sure.
